Instead of UFC ring announcer Bruce Buffer announcing B.J. Penn versus Jon Fitch as the "main event of the evening!" he will now make his legendary call for a different bout.
The biggest bantamweight title fight in recent years is now the main event of UFC 132 on July 2 in Las Vegas.
Dominick Cruz versus Urijah Faber has it all. A big-name fighter, a budding rivalry and a rematch that should go very differently then the last time.
Cruz and Faber met at WEC 26, where Faber won by first-round submission and gave Cruz his only career loss to date. Since then, Cruz has held hard feelings for Faber, and the rivalry between the two has grown.
Now, instead of Faber being the defending champion, it's Cruz who holds the title.
Other bouts that have been confirmed by the UFC on UFC.com include a return bout for the injury-prone light heavyweight, Tito Ortiz against a formidable opponent in Ryan "Darth" Bader. Ortiz has lost four of his last five fights and hasn't won a fight since 2006 when Ortiz beat Ken Shamrock by first-round TKO.
Also confirmed so far are three lightweight bouts. Melvin Guillard will face Shane Roller, German kickboxing wunderkind Dennis Siver will face off against Matt Wiman and George Sotiropoulos will look to restart his winning ways against Evan Dunham.
The UFC 132 main event originally belonged to Penn vs. Fitch II after the two fought to a majority draw in Australia at UFC 127, but both fighters pulled out due to injury.
