Chael Sonnen spoke to the website/magazine Fighters Only on Friday, March 3rd, and he sure had some choice words for fellow middleweight Michael Bisping.
Sonnen asked UFC matchmaker Joe Silva for a fight with Bisping in a heated e-mail, taking several shots against UFC’s public enemy number one along the way.
Despite Bisping not responding to "Uncle Chael’s" challenge yet, that did not stop Sonnen from continuing to hype up the fight like it is a necessity for the UFC.
Again commenting on Bisping’s latest outing against Jorge Rivera at UFC 127, Sonnen remarked that he was "disappointed in Bisping’s behavior."
This sentiment was nothing new in regards to the controversy that surrounded the Bisping victory, but Sonnen, as he often does, took the trash talk to the next level in what he had to say next.
"Spitting on Jorge Rivera's cornermen brought disgrace to himself, to the sport and to all fighters, me included. That's why, first and foremost, Michael Bisping owes ME an apology."
Explaining the though process behind this, Sonnen remarked:
"As someone with much more experience than him, at a much higher level of competition, I am his superior and his behavior warrants an apology to me."
Oh man. If Bisping lost his composure from the trash talk of Jorge Rivera...he may end up in a padded cell by the time Chael Sonnen is done hyping up this fight. Needless to say, Chael did not stop there.
"Now you might say that's a bit of abstract reasoning...but there's another reason he better apologize to me first, and it has to do with his own self-interest."
The Team Quest competitor continued, "I happen to know, from one of my very highly-placed sources at the UFC, that Michael Bisping's 'goodwill account' is seriously overdrawn with the company."
He then used the analogy, "He's on very thin ice wearing really sharp skates, if you know what I mean."
For those not sure where Sonnen was heading with this, he had no problem spelling the situation out. "So, there are only TWO possible outcomes for him: He can fight ME, or he can get released."
There you have it folks: Sonnen makes or breaks careers in the UFC middleweight division.
If you’re thinking, "Well, Chael definitely made his point. He has to be done talking now," then clearly, you do not know Chael Sonnen very well.
"He needs to fight me to keep his job. But...and this is a big but...I don't HAVE to fight Michael Bisping to keep MY job. If I decide not to fight him, they'll set me up with some other contender I can ridicule, then pound into fine powder."
Personality, this writer preferred Sonnen’s "mincing him through the fence like a boiled potato" comment, but we all know Uncle Chael is not one to reuse insults or analogies.
Still going strong, Sonnen stressed, "But Bisping's got me, or he's GONE. I hold the 'whip hand' in this deal; so if he wants to feed his family without going on the 'dole,' he better apologize."
For those not familiar with the term, "dole" is UK slang for welfare. Sonnen chose to end the interview on a high note; presenting ridiculous (but hilarious) scenarios where he may accept an apology from "The Count."
"I may want a singing apology. I may want him to choreograph and perform a little 'apology dance.' I may make him kiss my ring like I'm the Pope, or kneel before me like I'm the King and he's being knighted. I'm not sure what I'll decide on...but he does owe me an apology."
Chael Sonnen, ladies and gentlemen. How much pro wrestling do you think this guy watched as a kid to trash talk at such a high level?
Love him or hate him, is there anyone out there who is not hoping to see Sonnen vs. Bisping at this point?
