The Ultimate Fighting Championship awarded $60,000 bonuses to four fighters at the conclusion of UFC 125: Resolution. The fight card took place on January 1, 2011 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Jeremy Stephens took home "Knockout of the Night" for his third round KO of Marcus Davis. Stephens knocked Davis to the ground at the 2:33 mark of Round Three. He then made sure Davis was out with a Dan Henderson-like strike to his prone opponent.
The "Knockout of the Night" could have just as easily been awarded to Brian Stann for his first round finish of Chris Leben.
Clay Guida took home the "Submission of the Night" bonus for his guillotine choke, which forced Takanori Gomi to tap out at the 4:27 mark of Round Two.
UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and his opponent Gray Maynard took home "Fight of the Night" honors for their five-round battle, which ended in a draw.
Maynard delivered a tremendous amount of punishment to Edgar in the first round, but Edgar showed a great deal of heart and came back in the later rounds to retain his title with the draw.
The judges scorecards read 48-46 for Maynard, 48-46 for Edgar and 47-47.
The result of the Edgar vs. Maynard fight does raise some interesting questions, since the winner was slated to fight WEC champion Anthony Pettis in a title unification bout. Since there was no winner in this fight, the unification bout may be up in the air.
