Jon Jones began his mixed martial arts journey when he took on Brad Bernard at FPF Untamed 20 in April of 2008.
Jones knocked out Bernard at just 1:32 in the very 1st round of action marking off the first victory of his young MMA career.
"Bones" continued his success winning five consecutive fighters before arriving to the UFC in August of 2008.
In his UFC debut, Jones defeated Andre Gusmao by Unanimous Decision at UFC 87.
He then went on to win his next two bouts before losing the first fight of his mixed martial arts career.
Jones was disqualified for landing an illegal downward elbow that knocked Matt Hamill out. Despite Jones being DQ'd he was determined to continue his quest to the top of the Light Heavyweight division.
The fans saw the real Jon Jones after his loss to Hamill as he knocked out Brandon Vera and Vladimir Matyyushenko both in the 1st round.
Jones continued his success when he recorded then, the biggest victory of his career when he submitted Ryan Bader at UFC 126 via Guillotine Choke at 4:20 in the 2nd round.
Fans became to question, "How good is this Jones guy?"
Jones' next fight would end up going down in history and became the biggest victory of his UFC career.
At UFC 128 Jones took on then, UFC Light Heavyweight champion, Mauricio "Shogun" Rua.
Action began as Jones dominated early. Strike after strike "Bones" proved he was the better fighter and worthy of being crowned with gold.
At 2:37 in the 3rd round, Jones was declared the youngest champion in UFC history via technical knockout.
Jones was not only the youngest champion ever but his name was now used in the same sentence as Anderson Silva and George St-Pierre.
The fans now knew how good Jones was.
At UFC 135 Jones took on his toughest competitor yet when he squared off his former UFC Light Heavyweight champion, Quinton Rampage Jackson.
Jones demonstrated why he is the best fighter in the 205 division as he picked apart Jackson. In the 4th round of action Jones remained champion as he submitted Jackson via Rear Naked Choke.
Marking off the biggest victory of his UFC career, Jones now stands in a class of his own.
Unlike many fighters in MMA, Jones is far from being a one dimensional fighter.
Jones has proved his stand up striking and kicking is second to none. His stand up defense is immeasurable as well as his clinch game.
His take downs are powerful and are feared by all of his opponents.
Since entering the UFC, Jones has never even been taken down. And, he's proved his expertise in the submission through his victory over Jackson.
While many will make the case for Anderson Silva, George St-Pierre, and Jose Also, Jones has taken the crown.
At the young age of 24, Jon "Bones" Jones is the best pound-for-pound fighter in MMA today.
