Bleacher Report's Leon Horne:
UFC 129 at the Rogers Center in Toronto, Canada played out in front of 55,000 fans last night and made history by breaking the live attendance record for a mixed martial arts event in North America.
Not only was UFC 129 great for the UFC itself, it brought people from every continent into the city of Toronto. Hotels were sold out all over the downtown core, restaurants were full and retail stores were bustling with buyers.
UFC 129 boosted the economy in the city of Toronto in a similar fashion to how the Formula One Grand Prix in Montreal.
After seeing so much success, it brings up questions as to why New York is still one of the last big jurisdictions that will not sanction mixed martial arts.
Dana White addressed the media about the situation in New York and stated that it is the Culinary Union that is the last major hurdle to sanctioning the sport in the state. Watch the video to hear White's complete description on what exactly is holding New York back.
It is probably only a matter of time before the sport finally is sanctioned in New York, but fight fans in the state have to be tired of the wait.
